Tome of Stars is equal parts art, therapy journal, and exorcism, both a celebration and an elegy.

It springs from a profound bond as transcendent and tumultuous as the cosmos itself, one that reached heights that reshaped my spirit and depths that shattered it.

As a single narrative arc tracing the birth and death of a relationship, these poems follow a timeline of passion, longing, and prolonged grief. Each sonnet is a page in a tragic romance, shifting in tone from the rapture of new love to the lifelong torment of devastating loss.

The collection is structured into six sections called “Items,” named after the portions of a margam, the structure of a Bharatanatyam classical Indian dance recital, for my Beloved was such an artist.

Cosmic imagery saturates the collection—a tribute to my Beloved, whose essence and very name transformed the heavens into symbols of devotion, wonder, and longing.

This collection is my attempt to chart a universe of feeling and experience. It is, therefore, a highly idiosyncratic, eccentric, personal, flawed, and obsessive journey.

Nevertheless, I cherish the hope that it might resonate with those who have loved and lost on a transformational scale, soul siblings whose lives were riven by encounters they could neither control nor truly understand, buffeted by storms of fate that redefined and rewrote their most personal perspectives on existence, forevermore.
